Samsung NX Hybrid Digital SLR Camera Release Soon
Samsung Digital Imaging Co., Ltd based in Korea used PMA 2009 as the global launching pad for the NX Series, the company’s revolutionary new family of hybrid digital cameras. A new Samsung NX Series digital camera offers the performance and image quality of a DSLR and the portability and convenience of a compact point-and-shoot. Samsung’s new NX Series bridges the gap between a DSLR and compact point-and-shoot digital camera by combining the benefits of both in one new model.
Like conventional DSLRs, the NX Series utilizes an APS C sized image sensor providing a much larger surface area to gather light and produce higher-quality images than comparable digital camera systems. Unlike a DSLR, the NX Series does not feature a mirror box and employs an ultra-precise Electronic Viewfinder (EVF). The use of an EVF has allowed Samsung engineers to significantly reduce the size and weight of the new camera system by decreasing the distance between the lens and image sensor (flange back) by approximately 60% compared to traditional DSLRs. In addition to utilizing the EVF, consumers can also take advantage of the camera’s Live View functionality to frame their shots on the NX Series’ high resolution screen.
The first model of Samsung NX Series hybrid digital camera will be available in the second-half of 2009, but we don't get information where dealers market it will can buy and price information or additional details of this DSLR camera. (source: cameratown)

Epson R-D1xG Digital Rangefinder Camera
Epson Japan announced is new R-D1xG rangefinder digital camera, an updated version of the original R-D1 and R-D1s models, which were discontinued in June 2007, Epson R-D1xG features a 6 megapixel APS-C CCD image sensor. It additionally offers a larger 2.5 inch LCD screen, supports SDHC memory cards up to 32GB, EDiART image processing and a handgrip. A range-finding focusing mechanism allowing the photographer to measure the subject distance and take photographs that are in sharp focus.
The Epson R-D1xG is compitable with Leica M mount lenses, or earlier Leica screw mount lenses using an adapter. Sure, this new Epson R-D1xG rangefinder camera will give more reasonable price than Leica M8 or Hasselblad rangefinder digital cameras. The Epson RD1xG will be available in Japan on April 9th, with an estimated price of $2000 USD. Many photographers only can hope it will also release in US, Canada, Australia, Italy, United Kingdom, and another Europe shop dealers market as soon as possible. (source here)
The advantages rangefinder camera compared with DSLR's :
- Rangefinders do not have mirrors thus there is no mirror 'blackout' while snapping a picture
- They also tend to be quieter in operation, again because they lack the reflex sound of the mirror moving. This ideal for use in quite environments like weddings party or drama theater.
- The camera bodies are typically more compact than SLR's camera.
Disadvantages of rangefinders camera compared with DSLR's :
- More expensive than DSLR cameras
- Parallax errors due to lack of a through-the-lens (TTL) viewfinder
- Expensive and fairly limited selection of lenses available

Olympus launches new E-30 DSLR Camera

Olympus, a famous camera manufacturer, is again in news for introducing its new Prosumer DSLR, Olympus E-30 Camera. This latest innovation in the digital camera world has all that is required to stand up against the competition.
Olympus E-30 Digital SLR Camera comes with a number of AF Points and a better viewfinder. The new E-30 comes fitted with a small albeit rotating screen. This camera features a redone f2.8 – 3.5 Zuiko 14 - 54 lens with less noise production.
Olympus E-30 islarger than E-520, both is width and height but is less tall than the E-3, thanks to its new viewfinder while isn't as big as the E-3 but has the same extremely fast AF system, it still sounds better than most of the others. The other obvious exterior feature is the camera’s tilt and swivel LCD. It’s a 2.7 inch, 230,000 dot unit, meaning it can show the same level of detail as the E-3, though not in the same league as the latest offerings from several other manufacturers that are beginning to feature 920,000 dots on screens of similar sizes. Like its mid range peers, a battery grip (HLD-4) is available. It also offers a distinctly professional 1/8000th sec fastest shutter speed and 1/250th sec maximum flash sync speed. The E-30 sounds like it might be a really nice camera. It also incorporates a flip-and-twist LCD, which makes Live View a lot more useful and which none of its big competitors offer. It has a built-in electronic level, like the Nikon D3.
Olympus E-30 DSLR Specifications :
- Sensor : 12.3MP Live MOS
- Color depth : 12-bit
- ISO range : 100 – 3200 (100-1600 in auto)
- Focal-length multiplier : 2x
- Continuous shooting speed : 5 fps , 98% coverage
- Viewfinder : 1.02x magnification, fixed focusing screen
- AF : 11 zones (all cross-type)
- Live View : Yes
- LCD size : 2.7 inches, tilt and swivel
- Approximately price : $1,299

New LEICA S2 System : 37 megapixels DSLR Professional Camera

Leica has announced a brand-new digital photographic system. The first camera in the new S-system, the 37-megapixel Leica S2, is aimed at the top-end professional photographer shooting advertising, fashion and other commercial work. Its sensor is 56% larger than those used in 35mm full-frame DSLRs.
Designed from scratch in consultation with professional photographers, the Leica S2 does not use a conventional medium format or 35mm platform. The S2’ bespoke Kodak CCD sensor has enabled the Leica designers to produce the smallest camera in its class, sitting between the Canon EOS 5D and 1Ds Mk III DSLRs in size. The Leica image processor developed with Fujitsu specifically for the Leica S2, allow the camera´s lenses, firmware and sensor to function at their optimum, producing market leading processing time and the highest level of picture quality with minimal energy output. Nine new lenses will be developed for the new Leica S-system.
There’s little doubt that Leica will produce a high quality camera and equally high quality lenses to go with it. Whether it will succeed in establishing a presence in the medium format digital market we may have to wait at least a year to see.
LEICA S2 Specifications :
- Large 30x45mm sensor containing 37 million pixels
- Small body similar to that of a professional 35mm DSLR
- Weatherproof seals
- 3" high-quality LCD screen
- Dual shutter system – focal plane or leaf
- Records files in open DNG format
- Range of nine new lenses, including a 120mm macro, tilt-and-shift 30mm, 70mm f/2.5 standard lens and 24 mm ultrawide angle

Hasselblad H3DII-50 Digital SLR Camera 50MP

Hasselblad H3DII-50 camera system has been specially designed to meet the most exacting demands of high-end commercial photographers who require the ultimate in both image quality and performance. The camera is the first on the market to sport Kodak’s 50 megapixel sensor. The sensor measures 36 x 48mm, twice the size of a largest DSLR sensor currently on the market. The H3DII is capable of capturing images at 1fps while creating 300 MB files with an ISO range of 50 to 400. The camera has a laundry list of other features and accessories as you might expect including a wide range of lens choices, 3″ display, CCD cooling sink for noise reduction, GPS accessory and choices for file output and media cards.
Christian Poulsen, CEO of Hasselblad, says, “The H3DII-50 features the largest sensor currently available in the 48 mm segment and takes its place as the flagship of our H3DII line. Nevertheless, to show that we are not going to rest on our laurels, we are also announcing the forthcoming H3DII-60, an even higher end camera that we’ll launch in 2009. The H3DII-60 will feature a 60 megapixel sensor that provides 94% full-frame, 645 coverage.
