BlackBerry Storm 9530 smartphones from RIM and Verizon Wireless have released now, available to order from the Verizon website. Presumably in stores across America once they open this morning, the Storm 9530 is priced from $199.99 . While we truly think the recently launched Bold is one of the best smartphones on the market, the new Storm 9530 is a game changer for RIM and Crackberry addicts around the world round. Its clickable touchscreen lives up to the hype - it really does offer an honest to goodness tactile response while still offering all of the benefits of an iPhone-like capacitive touchscreen(INFO) display that requires light touches to get things done.
While I don't want to give away all of the goodies before we publish the full review, I thought it might be nice to tease you all a bit with a short video and some first impressions after using the device for a day.
Style wise, the phone has a look similar to that of the Bold, but without all of the hardware. It feels solidly built and is, in truth, a bit on the hefty side. The touchscreen works really well in general, but it seems that the 4.7 version of the BlackBerry OS is still not quite ready. We continue to experience a number of issues with the accelerometer and its auto-rotation function, but are willing to cut RIM a little slack since the Storm is new territory for them. The basic functions of the phone all seem to work fine, and we've been having a good time playing with, and fighting over, the Storm. With nearly 1GB of internal storage and an included 8GB microSD card in the box, there's plenty of room for photos and music alike. I have to admit liking the simplicity of the 3.5mm headphone jack too, so no adapters required. Here are the latest technical specifications of the Verizon Blackberry Storm 9530.
